Vintage Halloween Vinyl

September 15th, 2008 by John Wolfe

My last entry reminded me of some classic Halloween records I used to listen to during my childhood in the 70’s and early 80’s. I remember pestering my parents into either buying the albums pictured in this post (usually at yard sales), or I would have them check them out from our local library. I spent many a weekend freaking out in our basement to the sounds and music found on these LP’s- and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I also was very fascinated by the Halloween type art featured on each album. I remember being creeped-out, yet mesmerized specifically by the image of the monster claw in the eyeball. When I first found these old Halloween album covers online, last year, I experienced a major feeling of nostalgia, as I haven’t seen them since I was five or six years old. All three albums were recorded in the 60’s by Frankie Stein and His Ghouls.

I’d like to thank CreativeTechs.com and Scarstuff for posting these classic images. If you remember these vinyl Halloween covers, then you’ll enjoy checking out their collections of vintage spooky albums.

I love these records too. When I was a kid (70’s & 80’s as well) my brother and I were obsessed with this record that came with a party planner (or something). It was a Witch named Neewollah (get it?) who gave you a tour through her house and grounds. You were supossed to play it and make some props to stick in your blindfolded guests hands. Loved it.

    Johnny,

I used to have a ton of this stuff, but I haven’t been able to find most of it online. I had some 8-tracks too that played spooky sounds along with novelty songs like The Little Nash Rambler.

I don’t remember Neewollah, but I get it. :) I used to have a game that had a ten or twelve inch upright dracula. If you landed on the wrong space in the game, you had to stick your finger in his mouth and make him bite you…lol! His (dull) plastic fangs were coated in red marker. I think the game was called I Want to Bite Your Finger. :) I haven’t thought of that in years until you mentioned Neewollah.
